Vision Airlines Announces Low-Fare Flight Service!

January 19th, 2011

Vision Airlines

Vision Airlines announces today the expansion of it’s low-fare air service from 17 new markets to the Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS) beginning Mar. 25 and April 1, 2011, with rates starting at $79/one way. To celebrate the largest expansion of a commercial airline in more than a decade, travelers may book flights from Northwest Florida to any of the new markets for a low $49/one way introductory fare, when booked between Jan. 18 – 23, 2011.

Vision Airlines will operate flights seven days a week using Boeing 737 and Dornier 328 aircraft. The new service provides leisure and business travelers around the country a new, low-cost way to escape to the emerald-green beaches of Northwest Florida for a weekend or the entire season.

“Vision Airlines is excited to offer these new flight services to the community of Destin-Fort Walton Beach in a confident effort to bring visitors back to the destination,” said David Meers, chief operating officer, commercial operations, Vision Airlines. “It is our desire to continue to grow our service and route structure, and offer tremendous value to travelers.”

“Vision Airlines’ new low-fare service on large Boeing 737 aircraft will offer passengers affordable flights to the Emerald Coast and will bring thousands of visitors to the shores of Destin and Fort Walton Beach to enjoy the sugar-white beaches and clean, emerald-green water,” said Michael Stenson, business development manager of Northwest Florida Regional Airport. “Located between Panama City to the east and Pensacola to the west, we expect to draw passengers from all of Northwest Florida – making VPS the major airport on Florida’s Emerald Coast.”

The amphitheatre-style main stage at Harborwalk Village has been dedicated to Vision Airlines. The outdoor, waterfront venue hosts live shows and music performances throughout the year and will now feature promotions with Vision Airlines in bringing concert guests into the area.

For Okaloosa County residents, weekend vacation destinations are now only a short flight away, from the Kentucky Derby in Louisville and Asheville’s live music scene, to the country roots of Knoxville and Atlanta’s professional sporting events.

Following a challenging year for the Emerald Coast tourism industry due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in April 2010, Vision Airlines confidently introduces non-stop, low-fare flight service from nearly 20 markets into the destination acclaimed as the “Best Beach Town in the South” for 14 consecutive years by the readers of Southern Living. The airline will continue to aggressively serve new markets around the country that offer the consumer tremendous vacation values.

Starting March 25, 2011, Vision Airlines will serve the following markets to/from Northwest Florida:

• Atlanta • Baton Rouge, La. • Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C.

• Little Rock, Ark. • Knoxville, Tenn. • Birmingham, Ala.

• Huntsville, Ala. • Macon, Ga. • St. Petersburg, Fla.

• Punta Gorda, Fla. • Savannah, Ga. • Louisville, Ky.

Starting April 1, 2011, Vision Airlines will serve the following markets to/from Northwest Florida:

• Chattanooga, Tenn. • Asheville, N.C. • Columbia, S.C.

• Shreveport, La. • Orlando-Sanford

Vision Airlines – headquartered in Atlanta – began operations in 1994 in Las Vegas. Today, the company operates a mixed fleet of aircraft including the Boeing 767, Boeing 737 and Dornier 328 aircraft.

Vision Airlines, internationally recognized/established as a premier charter airline, has been flying scheduled service for more than two years. The company’s clients include US Presidential candidates, heads of state, countless celebrities, Fortune 1000 companies and some of the world’s most-recognized resorts.

The company is headquartered in Atlanta, and also has offices in Louisville, Ky., Las Vegas and Miami.

Panama City Beach Named Top 10 Budget Destination for 2011

Panama City Beach has been named one of the Top 10 budget destinations for 2011 by AOL Travel.

Coming on the heels of CNN.com travel writers naming the area one of the Top 5 winter vacation spots, the AOL list mingles Panama City Beach with such sites as Cancun, Mexico, New Orleans, and Montreal, Canada.

The AOL story touts the recent visit by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michele Obama and the May opening of the new Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.

“Plus there are lots of hotels with rooms priced at less than $100 a night,” according to AOL travel writer Alison Lowenstein, who gives several examples. “Go now before the annual Spring Break herds arrive.”

The article also notes that although “this Gulf Coast beach town is still trying to recover from the devastating economic impact” from the BP oil spill, the beaches are now oil-free. Also named in AOL’s Top 10 list were Washington, D.C.; Atlantic City, N.J.; and Athens, Greece.

Dan Rowe, executive director of the Bay County Tourist Development Council (TDC), said in a press release he was thrilled Panama City Beach was included in AOL’s list, especially with the area’s large array of dining and entertainment options.

“We are proud that our Real.Fun.Beach. destination is considered an affordable hot spot for 2011,” he said.

According to the TDC, AOL Travel is a news website with about 1.7 million unique monthly viewers and more than 12,000 Twitter followers.

The AOL listings were not ranked by number, but CNN.com’s Top 5 list put Panama City Beach at No. 3, just behind Costa Rica and Lima, Peru, but ahead of Boston and London/Paris.
